Spirit of Esctasy

Dedicated to the preservation of
             Rolls-Royce and Bentley motor cars

In 1984 two of the leading restorers of Rolls-Royce and Bentleys discovered they were both about to manufacture the same obsolete part. To avoid this duplication they proposed an association of the best restorers willing to pool knowledge and experience. A solicitor was engaged to draw up a formal constitution and the Specialists Association was founded.

The Constitution lists clear aims:

  •  to strive to achieve and maintain the highest standards
  •  to exchange freely the unique fund of knowledge fast becoming unavailable
          from the original manufacturer
  •  to liaise and share the manufacture of unobtainable parts
  •  to offer to the public clear identification of high craftsmanship

To gain membership requires evidence of at least five years full-time spent in repairs and restoration devoted almost entirely to Rolls-Royce and Bentley cars. Staffing, facilities, equipment are all inspected, and applications are debated by the RR&BSA Council at one of their quarterly meetings. There is regular monitoring.

It quickly became clear that the membership contains great wealth of expertise, exchanged and enlarged by discussion at the regular meetings. The benefits are immense. The Association is the repository of a unique bank of knowledge of all the models, is currently collating & recording specifications to aid restoration to original standards, and receives regular Lectures on topical items such as fuel technology and changing legislation. The Association also conducts Seminars for Engineers employed by our specialists, and gives Lectures at the RREC Weekend Seminars whenever asked.

Parts manufacture is a major activity. Members produce thousands of previously unavailable components, ranging from massive cylinder block castings down to the smallest tab washers, all vital to correct restoration. A great number of Rolls-Royce and Bentley cars have been saved and used by delighted owners as a result of this investment.

Seek out those Companies that display the Association Logo. You will meet engineers that live, work and talk Rolls-Royce and Bentleys, and be assured of the levels of experience, knowledge and equipment available. They have an intimate knowledge of the cars, and freely exchange experiences with other members.

But above all, you will benefit from the application of that principle upon which Sir Henry Royce based his work and for which he remains renowned, the striving after perfection that produced the Best Car in the World.
